Anybody ever try b.f.g. kdw2 drag racing vers. nitto drag racing. What diff. in time Bob

I recently put on a set of KDW-2's. Can't tell for sure if they'll work better than the GY Runflats at the drags. But given that they hook up much better on the street and hang on in the corners way past where the GY' gave way - I'd guess that they will do just fine at the drags. Also they're much better in the rain.

i agree with you about in the rain. we went on the 2007 HRpower tour with the kdw2 and glad i did after two days of hard rain. now i am thinking going drag racing and only have our road racing tires left. Thanks Bob p.s. your car looks good same color as mine.

Gotta' agree re: the BFG Tires! I have Mich. Pilot Sports PS2's (305-30-19 Rear/275-30-19 Front) on my 500 HP Lingenfelter and my daughter has the BFG KDW's on her 2000 (460HP..hey..Dad's gotta have more right?<G>) . Now..my rears were almost $900 for the pair..and aprox. $700 for the fronts; I drove my daughters car at a local track (we both have Pfadt Race Engineering suspensions)..and I can tell you..even though the BFG KDW's are "all-season" tires..they outperformed (except in turn-in response and quikness to steering inputs) my expensive tires!! There is of course some diff. due to her's being 18's all around while my setup (not optimal for racing or autocrossing..better for looks these days<G>) is 19's all around..but damn..for the $$$! Great hook-up, gobs of grip; very linear and predictable "break away" at the limits..and when it gets wet.....great x-tra bonus!
They let you you know when you're about to "over cook" the turn..and not give you a "WHOOPS" nasty surprise (i.e., the Vettes well known tendency to "snap-oversteer) !! Very impressive!!
One of the best _non_ R-Compound tires I've ever driven on were the BFG Comp TA KD's (BFG claims the KD stands for: "killer dry";)) Only go up to 295-18..but 18's all aorund seems to be the optimal setup from what my research has shown..for autocrossing and road racing! The C5R Corvete Racing teams cars are 18's all around (Frnt. 18 inch x 8.5 inch. rear: 19 inch x 10 inch)..so I guess if it works so damn well for them....?<G> :thumbsup:

I went with 18's all around. Rims are 9.5" in front and 10.5" out back. KDW's-2's are 265 front and 295 rear. They've done pretty fair autocrossing but I still haven't gone to the drasgs with them. I went to Corvette @ Carlisle this year and got caught in a very heavy rain storm in the mountains near Wilks Barrie, PA. The tire where outstanding (no white knuckles).

Great setup! Should serve you well! If you don't need your car fro bad wheather driving..I'd still go with th BFG Comp TA Kd's! They really are killer!:cheers: Stay safe out there!!:bat_angel
