detailing engine,compartment

Can any one help me i am trying to detail my 1979 engine back to the ordinal condition.I need to know the paint which on the engine.Is there a book on that.THANKS,EASTCOAST VETTE

I dont like to use water on the engine compartment, I only use air ! !
