A star-spangled 1979 Corvette is one way rural Carlinville Vietnam Marine veteran Paul "Scotty" Scott shows his patriotic nature.

"I got the idea shortly after 9/11 when everyone had American flags flying to show our solidarity and patriotism, and I thought boy, have I got a way to show my patriotism," Scott said.

Scott said he got the 1979 Corvette in 2001 as a partial payment for a foundation job for his masonry business, The Brick Doctor.

"I had to save up the money to have it painted as an American flag, and didn't get it painted until 2002," he said.
