CARLISLE, PA – Corvettes at Carlisle, the world’s largest and most prestigious event celebrating America’s Sports Car races back to the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds with a race reunion, special guest icon Mario Andretti – presented by MagnaFlow Exhaust – a street-legal, trackready 2004 C5 LS1 Corvette giveaway, an unveiling of the 2010 Gran Sport by the GM engineering team, a fun field packed with over 3,000 Corvettes from all generations, activities for kids and women and much more. Corvettes at Carlisle is a must-attend event for fans of all generations of America’s sports car.

Racing icon Mario Andretti, who began his driving career in the Keystone State, will meet with fans, sign autographs and pick out his favorite Corvette on the Corvettes at Carlisle Fun Field on Saturday.

Andretti, considered by many to be the greatest race car driver in the history of the sport, goes hand-in-hand with the 2009 Corvettes at Carlisle theme: a Corvette race car reunion. Expect to
see a wide array of great race cars from each generation of C1 – C6 Corvettes. A 20th anniversary display of Corvettes that raced in the ’88-’89 Corvette Challenge Car Series will celebrate fourth generation Corvette race cars. This year’s Chip’s Choice Invitational Display will showcase Corvettes that have raced in the 24 hours of Le Mans, including this year’s GT Class winning # 63 Compuware Corvette C6.R, raced by Corvette Racing/Pratt & Miller Engineering.

It is likely to be one of, if not the biggest collection of, Le Mans Corvettes to ever be assembled. Corvettes at Carlisle will also host free seminars throughout the weekend, including a racers’ round table that will give the audience a chance to hear war stories from various drivers, team owners and collectors..

Also drafting on the speed of the Corvettes at Carlisle Race Reunion is this year’s Corvettes at Carlisle Giveaway Corvette, presented by ProTeam Corvette Sales. On Sunday, August 30th, one lucky attendee will drive home in a Millennium Yellow Corvette LS1. This 2004 Corvette is street-legal but by no means an ordinary street car, but rather a turn-key, reliable, track-ready race car guaranteed to put a huge grin on the face of any driver who gets behind the wheel. The Millennium Yellow Corvette LS1 (350 hp) with a 6-speed transmission was once a
Bondurant School of High Performance Driving vehicle. The modifications done to this Corvette include a roll bar behind the front seats that have race harnesses mounted to both seats, Halon
fire system, Ron Davis Aluminum radiator, Borla Cat-Back exhaust system, Z06 brake cooling ducts for the front and rear brakes, transmission cooler, differential cooler, power steering cooler, high performance springs, performance friction brake pads and a few other goodies. Sponsor of the 2009 Corvettes at Carlisle Giveaway, ProTeam Corvette Sales in Napoleon, Ohio is home to the world’s largest collection of classic Corvettes. ProTeam believes the purchase of one of their Corvettes is not the end but the beginning of their customer
relationship.

The GM team members that created the Corvette will be once again be on-hand at Corvettes at Carlisle to meet with the enthusiasts that drive their passion. At last year’s Corvettes at Carlisle, the GM team unveiled the new ZR1 with an engineering and design walk-around. This year, the long awaited 2010 Gran Sport will make its Carlisle debut. The GM team members will conduct seminars to better educate attendees on the newest Corvette Gran Sport.

Many 1963 and 1996 Gran Sports will be part of the over 3,000 Corvettes representing all generations of America’s sports car (C1 – C6) that will blanket the Corvettes at Carlisle Fun
Field, sponsored by Corvette America. Since 1977, Corvette America has been a pillar in the Corvette restoration and performance industry, which demands absolute perfection and timeliness. Corvette America has built a solid network of aftermarket dealers, now over 5,000 worldwide.

In addition to special guests, unveilings and giveaways Corvettes at Carlisle will feature a 1959 Corvette reunion, Autocross – sponsored by the Cumberland County Corvette Club, Chip Miller Charitable Foundation Silent Auction, NCRS Gallery IX, Installation Alley on the Manufacturers Midway, Downtown Carlisle Corvette Parade, a Corvette Corral with hundreds of Corvettes for sale, Women’s Oasis and Kids at Carlisle Activities.
