Corvette organization roars on to national scene

The enthusiasm in Betty Malone's voice grew when she described driving a Corvette.

“It's like, when you get behind the wheel, there's no other car on the road,” the Muscle Shoals resident said. “When you go down that road, I'm telling you, people look.

“It's a car that has power. I think it's a dream car for a lot of people.”

She and other local Corvette fans have learned in the past two years that they are not alone in their love for the sleek, popular Chevrolet sports car.

They organized the Shoals Area Vette Enthusiasts, an organization that has grown to about 80 couples, said Killen resident Mae Taylor, who, along with her husband, Dink Taylor, helped form the group.
