Car Accident on River Road: Driver to be Found

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC -- Sunday afternoon, a Corvette crashed into a tree along River Road, but when emergency responders arrived on the scene, the car was empty.
A concerned motorist reported that a black Corvette had run off River Road and slammed into a tree.
The Corvette is registered to a Leland resident, but a number was not listed.
Wilmington Police said it's likely the car was either stolen or the driver was drunk at the time of the accident.
The accident is under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
