1960 Chevy Corvette Ride w/ Mike Joyce
You knew you wanted this car the moment you clicked the video.
Now let me tell you about the object of your affection — this lovingly restored 1960 Corvette Convertible with available hardtop.
She was born in 1960. Her seven older siblings, beginning with the 1953 Corvette, taught her everything she needed to know about style, grace, performance and handling. A subset of Corvette enthusiasts insists that this baby is the prettiest girl in the C1 family.
Looking through her papers you’ll see this lady had a simple Midwest life and lived with several families until 1991 when she was turned over to one of the country’s premier restoration artists, Mr. Joe Malicke of Country Corvettes.
He performed and extensive, body-on the frame restoration, including a complete new interior. He rebuilt of all of her gauges, speedometer, tachometer, clock, heater, radio and speaker. Her body was completely stripped and blocked straight. All her body lines were straightened and all panels and components were fit prior to repainting. She is pure fiberglass. No bondo in this baby!
All of her exterior chrome was replated as well as all of the weather-strips and exterior emblems were replaced.
Most importantly, the entire drive train was completely rebuilt to original specs. Her engine block and heads still retain the correct casting numbers and dates. The front and rear suspension were also completely rebuilt along with the brakes. All electrical components, such as starter and generator were rebuilt and all the electric wiring harnesses were replaced.
After her 1991 restoration she was stored away and brought out for an occasional Sunday drive. But at just 31 years old, and fresh out of re-hab, she wanted more.
This old girl came into our stable needing some freshening up. In the four years she’s been with us, we’ve re-built the generator and replaced all of her fluids and replaced her black soft top with a new white one. To bring her ride into the new century she got a new set of white wall radials. And to improve her outlook she got an new date stamped windshield and new weatherstripping. We found 1960 white hardtop and have it in restoration process.
Kultured Kustoms in Gardner, KS has been the chief cosmetic surgeon in her latest facelift and their work has been spectacular.
Let’s listen in as we start the engine and drive around a bit….
