Deadly Corvette accident leads to neighborhood chase

St. Petersburg, Florida — A deady crash, chase, then surprise for a St. Pete homeowner. St. Petersburg police say a white Chevy Malibu T-boned a red Corvette at the intersection of 36th Avenue and 34th Street North. The driver of the Corvette died. Florida Highway Patrol quickly responded because witnesses say the trooper was behind the car. Police say the suspect in the car, William Watson, took off running after the accident. Authorities say Watson ran into an occupied home on 27th Avenue North, where he allegedly beat up the resident. St. Pete police also say Watson ran into a second home and committed a burglary. He was then caught and taken into police custody. Watson faces several charges including drug posession, burglary, fleeing and eluding and vehicular homicide.
