HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says eight people were taken into custody on allegations of street racing.
The sheriff’s office carried out an operation on Friday, March 20 to catch the suspects, recording some of the offenses on video. Officials said eight people were arrested and another 13 citations were issued for various traffic violations.
The initiative was held the same weekend as one of the biggest drag racing events in the country, the TX2K.
“This year the event took place in Baytown and drew thousands of spectators, many of which insist on using the streets of Harris County to do racing of their own,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.
